The Audit and Risk Committee (the ARC) is constituted as a subcommittee of the Tshwane North Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) College in terms of section 12(1)(b) of the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Act (No. 16 of 2006, as amended). The ARC has one (01) vacancy for an Independent Member.
The College Council hereby invites suitably qualified and experienced professionals in the field of Finance, Auditing, or Risk Management to serve as an independent member of the ARC for a period of three years.
The ARC plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the College Council discharges its mandate effectively, in line with the CET Act, with duties outlined in the ARC Charter, which includes, but is not limited to:
Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the college’s Internal Audit Function, promoting a Combined Assurance Model, overseeing the effectiveness of the College’s assurance functions, ensuring the integrity of the College’s Annual Financial Statements, and advising the council on matters such as risk management, safeguarding of assets, and the adequacy of control systems.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications: Postgraduate qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Risk Management. Advanced certificates, such as CA / CIA / CISA/ Risk Management, would be an added advantage. Professional Registration: Applicants must be registered and in good standing with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAICA, IIA, IRMSA, etc.). Experience: 03 years of previous experience as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee in the Public Sector. Critical skills and attributes: knowledge of Governance and Risk Management, Internal Audit, IT Governance, Financial Reporting, Financial Statements, Internal Controls, Combined Assurance, Internal and External Audit processes, Performance Management, and applicable legislation. Experience /knowledge of the TVET Sector will be an added advantage.
Remuneration: Compensation for meetings attended shall be in accordance with rates as determined by the National Treasury.
