Council chairperson welcome message to TNC community
Tuesday 5th of January 2021 02:52:42 PM
Dear Students and Staff Members
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you at Tshwane North TVET College (TNC) for the Year
2021. This upcoming college year will certainly look different, but we remain focused on
providing our students pathways for academic success to help them unleash their full potential.
The 2020 academic year has been a year full of challenges however, I am immensely proud that
we were able to complete it. This is no small feat; it is the culmination of the hard work and
efforts of the staff of this great College. None of what we did would have been possible if we did
not all work together towards a common goal. Since the national lockdown commenced in March
2020, I have experienced an overwhelming sense of dedication and commitment from staff
across the six campuses to make a success of the 2020 academic year.
I am proud and thankful
that we achieved this under extreme circumstances. The dedication of our students and their
participation in online activities is equally admirable. Thank you to all of you for your contribution
to the success of the College and to the 2020 Academic Project.
As we commence the 2021 Academic Year, we must be mindful that we are living in extraordinary
times that calls for extraordinary measures.
In essence, this means that as we head towards the
new year, it is still extremely important that we remain vigilant and we constantly apply personal
hygiene measures, be cognisant of social/physical distancing, and that we continue to wear our
masks. We need to be cognizant that a mere few months ago, none of us would have imagined
that we would be where we are today. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives, as we
know it.
As our country is back on Level 3 of the national lockdown, and experiencing a new variant of
Covid-19 virus, we must not underestimate the impact the pandemic is having on communities
across the country and around the world. I want to urge you to take care of yourselves and those
around you and to comply with the national guidelines and regulations wherever you are.
Although the current COVID-19 situation necessitated a change in our approach to educating our
students, our aspiration remains the same that is “an innovative centre of excellence in skills
development”. This is the time to “reflect” on our past actions, which may help us to advance
ourselves as better human beings with strong moral values of “Accountability, Communication,
Transparency, Integrity and Agile Leadership”
We look forward to the 2021 academic year knowing that great things can happen, even in the
most challenging circumstances when we are together, emphasizing the college theme for 2021
“We are still on the same team”.
The phrase about unity in Tshivenda “Munwe muthihi a u tusi
mathuthu remains relevant in this context.
The College Council commits to sound governance principles and practices, thus encouraging
internal and external stakeholders to participate actively in the college activities and make 2021
the best year ever experienced!
We are here to guide you, as you become the best version of yourself
