Theme of the year

"WE ARE STILL ON THE SAME TEAM"
Message from Chairperson of Council
Dear Students and Staff Members
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you at Tshwane North TVET College (TNC) for the Year 2021. This upcoming college year will certainly look different, but we remain focused on providing our students pathways for academic success to help them unleash their full potential.
As we commence this Academic Year being mindful that we are living in extraordinary times. We need to be cognizant that a mere few months earlier, none of us would have imagined that we would be where we are today. The word that comes to mind is: "strange." COVID-19 has changed our life, as we know it. We begin the year seeing others two-dimensionally, as flat images in Zoom screens. Yet, let's remember that we are fully human with all the longings and desire to return to our usual normal as soon as possible.
Although the current COVID-19 situation necessitated a change in our approach to educating our students, our aspiration remains the same which is "an innovative centre of excellence in skills development". This is the time to "reflect" on our past actions which may help us to advance ourselves as better human beings with strong moral values of "Accountability, Communication, Transparency, Integrity and Agile Leadership"
We look forward to the 2021 academic year knowing that great things can happen, even in the most challenging circumstances when we are together, emphasizing the college theme for 2021 "We are Still on the same team". The phrase about unity in Tshivenda "Munwe muthihi a u tusi mathuthu remains relevant in this context.
The College Council commits to sound governance principles and practices, thus encouraging internal and external stakeholders to participate actively in the college activities and make 2021 the best year ever experienced!
We are here to guide you as you become the best version of yourself.
Make it a great year!
Message from the Principal
A warm welcome to the 2021 Academic Year
I trust that you had a safe festivity with family amid the COVID-19 global health crisis which continues to evolve. I am confident that you are all energised to begin with the New Normal as we enter the new decade. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all as we embark on a new journey that calls for us to relook at how we do things in this New Normal. I have to commend you for having been resilient with all the obstacles that came your way thus far, the CODID-19 season hasn't been easy.
Given the extraordinary times where in March 2020, our lives changed in the blink of an eye requiring us to adapt and fast track Vocational Education and Training to move towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) that caught us off guard. The year 2020 proved to us that it is possible to sustain academic excellence and personalize attention that is synonymous with TNC.
Your willingness as the TNC Community allowed this flexible approach to provide an optimal environment for learning while maintaining health and safety protocols as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. Our top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our communities, on and off-campus. We must forever keep in mind that the Coronavirus does not get tired of spreading - let's stick to the basic health protocols of washing our hands, maintaining social distancing and wearing our masks at all times.
Each year I introduce the theme with the intention to encourage you to think about how you will move forward every day towards achieving the excellence embedded within our vision.
Let us use this year to develop ourselves and ensure future success of the TNC Community and the Republic. Once again welcome to Tshwane North TVET College, looking forward to everyone having a great, healthy and rewarding academic year.
Remember that "the only skill that is important today is the zeal to learn new skills"
Dr Sunitha
